Rensselaer's Email Server NameWhen configuring an email client to send and receive your Rensselaer email, you need to specify which server to use. Incoming mail server: mail.rpi.edu Outgoing mail server: mail.rpi.edu Webmail server: webmail.rpi.edu Respite server: respite.rpi.edu Server type depends on if you are using IMAP or POP3. You should select one protocal and use it for all of your clients. IMAP is the recomended protocol, since it offers more options such as shared folders, sub-folders, any-client access, and quota management. POP3 is a simpler sub-set of IMAP that can only access the INBOX. Note: Webmail is an IMAP client. Please note that if you are off campus, you will need the Cisco VPN Client to send email to off-campus recipients. Instructions on how to install and use the Cisco VPN Client. Information on configuring IMAP clients can be found on the Configuring IMAP clients page. Information on configuring POP3 clients can be found on the Configuring POP3 Clients page
